Obituary of Mark A. Goodsby

Mark Alden Goodsby was born on April 16th 1958 in Philadelphia, Pa. He was the youngest of four children born to Robert and Mamie Goodsby who preceded him. Also preceding Mark in death were his two brothers Charles and Darryl Andry. Mark attended elementary school at Hamilton Disston, High School at Abraham Lincoln and later attended Howard University. As a child Mark sang with the Philadelphia Boys Choir, and continued his love for music through out his life. Mark sang for others when ever called upon to do so at special events and ceremonies. He moved to New Jersey in 1972, shortly there after became an employee at Ancora State Hospital. He later began serving as an advocate for change by joining the local Union, AFSCME 2218, where he served as President of Council 1 as well as the Recording Secretary of local 2218. Mark is survived by his sisters Vanessa Goodsby Fennell and Melahna Goodsby Jackson and a brother Robert Louis Goodsby Jr, as well as Marilyn Andry and Cheryl Andry Scott. Three Aunts; Melvina Chatman, Bessie Mae Pettway, And Juanita Scott and an uncle; Ruben Feagins and wife Estella, one brother-in-law Eugene and a sister-in-law Michelle Goodsby along with a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and. nephews. Mark, who devoted his life serving and helping others, will be greatly missed by both friends and family alike.
