So sad to hear the news of Grandpa’s passing but happy to know he is at Peace. Grandmom and Grandpa had a wonderful life traveling all over for basketball and for their lifelong friends and precious grandchildren! For living so far away, they were devoted grandparents and I always enjoyed our time together. Sweet tomatoes and Kmart. Sending all my love to Grandmom during this time!

So many wonderful memories of Grandpa and I know he was loved by so many. He was Mr. Fix-it and always had something scheduled for him to help with during their trips to Florida. He was always one to make sure that there was always dessert available at any time of day & I always appreciated there being no reason to have a treat! Grandpa will be missed by everyone and I am thankful that he and Grandma were able to spend so many wonderful decades together following their dreams (and Penn basketball)! We love & miss you! Sad to hear of George's passing. Condolences to Edna and all the family. I remember George transporting our Red Hat ladies on several outings, he was so patient with all our silliness. God Bless his soul.

My best memories of George and Edna were the family reunions. Each time we saw them, it was as if time stopped. George always had kind, encouraging words to say and an ear to gladly listen. We can learn from his servant leadership life.

Oh! So sad to hear this terrible news and my sincere condolences to dear Edna and her family. George was a member of the RAF Burtonwood Association for many years and served on the Board as Treasurer. His wise counsel and devotion to the Association made him a truly valued asset which is dificult to replace. George always had a smile, a nice thing to say to everyone and was a pleasure to be with. Edna and George made a perfect couple and he will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

What can I say? So many memories of good times shared i.e. fun at the Chamberlain, car trips, Mt Hope trip where we had a 5 car caravan with Christmas signs on our back window, etc. George was the original chauffeur to & from the airport for many of us. Rest in peace, George! Fondly, Betty Rice

I am greatly saddened to learn of George's passing, and I offer my condolences to all of his family. I knew George from my early days at Penn when he led the business office. George was just a great person who helped me navigate university finances from the get go. He and I often spoke about the Penn basketball team, and I saw him at the game frequently. I was also fortunate enough to be part of a weekly pick up game in the Palestra - a fond memory of my early time at Penn. George will be missed by us all.

The words to describe George are definitely gentle, kind, and generous. I agree with Edna when she says he was a "happy to do anything for you kind of guy!"He also had a good sense of humor. David and I have special memories of our trip to Florida to visit our friends Jeanie and Mike with Edna and George. What an enjoyable trip it was !What a nice man he was and what a special couple Edna and George were!We will always remember George and think of him. Our condolences to all of his family.

There is a permanent space in my memory for George, who I knew as manager of the DRL Business office from the late 1970's till his retirement: friendly, approachable, concerned about keeping things on track, our interface to the university. He comes to mind in voice and character on occasion as my mind wanders back to earlier days at the university. George's leadership carried us forward from the far simpler days of paper documents where the business office provided introduction and line by line support for required forms helping as necessary to fill in, correct & submit, to the sometimes lonely doorsteps of of today's tyrannical online form submissions. His leadership will be recalled and missed by many. Mitch Newcomer

My sincere condolences to George's family. He was a good guy. I joined George in a weekly pick-up basketball game in the gym next to the Palestra. There was a few of us from Physics & Astronomy, some docs at CHOP and various others from around campus. Good times. He was a couple of years older that my Dad, but he had a better jump shot than me.

My deepest sympathy to Edna and George’s family. George and I worked together in the Physics department of the University of Pennsylvania before I stopped working to raise my family. He was a wonderful man with a delightful personality. We spent many great times socially with our friends from the physics department. My late husband Rick and I always enjoyed being with George. Those memories are precious to me. Love and prayers, Peg Peacock-Huscher.

Sending my deepest condolences, I am so sad to hear about George’s passing. I’ve never known such a genuinely happy person who exudes sunshine the way he did. The world definitely lost a bright ray of sun, but his spirit will live on in so many people that he brought joy to. Sending lots of love and a big hug from Montana.
