Obituary of Alisia Mignon Griffin
Alisia M. Griffin, of Chesilhurst, NJ, passed away on February 25, 2023.
Alisia, better known as Lisa, was born on April 1, 1964 in Camden, NJ. Lisa’s childhood was spent in Atco and Berlin, NJ where she would lovingly give her life and heart to the Lord. In 1984 she graduated from Edgewood High School, and upon graduation, she made a bold decision to enlist into the US Army, serving 8 years. On November 19, 1990, in the breath-taking allure of Hawaii, Lisa became Mrs. Griffin uniting in matrimony to Robert Lee Griffin. It was on their return home to Berlin, NJ that Lisa attended Camden County College and earned an Associate’s degree in Applied Science – Dental Assisting; a profession she would passionately continue for the next 30 years.
Early in life, Lisa developed a love for animals of all sorts, bringing home a “pet” squirrel one day. Later in life, she toned it down to just cats and dogs, as, her compassionate heart extended to more than just people. Being the oldest of four children, Lisa embraced her strong leadership qualities in taking charge/control (this is how she earned the nickname “Sarge”, in love). One could say Lisa was the glue for family events, “suggesting” who would/could/should do what. It brought her much joy seeing the enjoyment on people’s faces during gatherings. However, she enjoyed it more seeing people enjoy the dishes she made. Her love could be felt through her cooking and you knew if Lisa made it, there’d be none left to take home. Besides a passion for cooking, Lisa would get lost in a book, taken away by music, and comforted by the warmth of family and comfy clothes. To know and love Lisa, is to know, love and enjoy life.
Lisa will be memorialized by her husband Robert Lee Griffin and their three sons Daymon, Tony, and Javon. Her mother, Roberta Thompson-Seay and step-father Robert Seay; father, Clifford A. Jones, Sr. (Brenda). Sisters and brothers; Tonya Jones, Robert Jones, Kenneth Thompson (Nikki), step-brother Robert C. Seay (Rosilyn), Michelle Jones, and Clifford A. Jones, Jr. (Courtney). Two grandkids: Kaiyen and Giada. Lisa was preceded in death by her step-brother Harold Monson. She also leaves to miss a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and many, many loved ones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday morning 9:00AM to 10:30AM at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 420 S. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ. Funeral service 10:30AM.
