Maryann Gail Rich, 73 years, of Sicklerville NJ, passed away on Thursday March 2nd, 2023. Cherished wife of 37 years to Deacon John Rich. Devoted mother of Caitlin Anne Rich (Neha) of Portland, Oregon and Meghan Elizabeth Rich (Christopher Hoerger) of Newtown, Pennsylvania. Beloved sister of Margaret Bayne Zabel (Richard) and William F. Bayne, Jr (Tina). Dearly loved as well by sisters and brothers in law Cathy Young (Albert), Rebecca Fink (Charles), and Robert Rich (Kathleen). Loving grandmother of Madison and Brody Hoerger. A resident of South Jersey since 1986, Maryann was born and raised in Spokane, Washington to William and Marilyn (Parmer) Bayne.
She graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in 1967, before pursuing a successful career in the insurance industry, working in a variety of supervisory and management capacities. Maryann served her community in a variety of ways, including Pre-Cana, Art & Environment and Blanket Ministries at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel / St. Simon Stock parish, but always chose to be present in a quiet way, never drawing attention to herself. She also supported John in his diaconal formation. Maryann enjoyed travel and in later years journeyed to the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and finally Ireland, visiting Sr. Agnes, Sr. Theresa, Sr. Immaculata and the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Trim, who taught at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School.
Maryann was cherished by all who came to know her. She was a selfless person who was always thinking of others. To Maryann, love meant showing up in a tangible way, in good times as well as challenging ones. If she heard of someone in need, be it family, friend or complete stranger, she was always there, willing to offer comfort and support, particularly to those less fortunate, especially displaced vulnerable children.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Thursday, March 9, 2023 from 9:30AM-11:00AM at Saint Simon Stock Parish, 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00AM. Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Maryann’s memory to Amigos de Jesus - Home for Children, P.O. Box 476, Malvern, PA 19355-9998.
